Petrol Price Review Likely To Be Discussed At Next Cabinet Meeting

The government is likely to discuss the matter of the price of

petrol at next week's Cabinet meeting, said Domestic Trade and

Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad."Next week's

meeting is the last before the Aidilfitri and hopefully there can be

some good news for the people," he told reporters after presenting

Aidilfitri goodies for the less fortunate here Saturday.Shahrir. who is

also the Member of Parliament for Johor Baharu, said the matter

needed to be weighed carefully before a decision was taken.On Oct 23,

the price of petrol was reduced by 15 sen from RM2.70 to RM2.55.

Razali Ibrahim Offers To Contest Umno Youth Vice-chief Post

Johor Umno Youth head Razali Ibrahim announced here Sunday

that he was offering himself for the national Umno Youth vice-chief

post in the party elections in December.The announcement was made

after a meeting of Johor Umno Youth held at the Johor Umno

headquarters here, ending speculation about Razali's intention to

vie for the post.Razali, who is also the Muar division Youth chief and

member of parliament for Muar, said he hoped to help restore the

people's confidence in the party, and that the party should return to

its original struggle of championing the interests all and not certain

groups only.Speculation is rife that Umno Youth executive committee

member Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Perlis Umno Youth

chief Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman and Selangor Youth vice-head

Faizal Abdullah will also be vying for the post, but so far there has

been no confirmation
