Ministry Mulls Separate Salary Scale For Senior Assistants
JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 1 -- The Education Ministry will study the possibility of creating a separate salary scale or allowance for senior assistants aimed at filling up the posts.Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said this was to encourage teachers who were reluctant to accept the posts as their allowances were only RM60 more than ordinary teachers."We cannot force them as those offered and rejected the posts can be penalised. This will leave us in a dilemma," he said at a choir competition for private schools here Friday. The study would also take into account the country's financial situation.Senior assistants are filled up by teachers in grade DGA29 or former graduate teachers who were promoted from DGA32.
