1.Bugis Museum

Bugis are Malays that originate from Sulawesi and migrated to Tanah Melayu in the late 18th and early 19th Century. To create awareness and immortalize the culture and way of life of the Bugis community in Johor, a museum has been constructed in Pontian district. At the Bugis Museum, visitors can have the opportunity to see a plethora of Bugis artifacts and also meet with the museum curator, who is of Bugis heritage, and listen to the tales of their customs and cultures.
Location : Driving down the North-South Highway, take the turning at Simpang Renggam and head towards Benut. From Benut, head south towards Pontian town. From Pontian town, continue south approximately 9 kilometres, passing by Rambah beach. There will be signages pointing the way to the Bugis Museum, which is not far from Rambah beach.

2.Kukup

Kukup is well known as a fishermen village. Since the mid 19th Century, Kukup was composed of farmers and fishermen, which were mostly of Bugis heritage.
In Kukup, be sure to try the range of seafood cuisines available there, especially the appetizingly delicious Sambal Crab. Several seafood restaurants are situated nearby the jetties, where patrons are able to enjoy a sumptuous meal whilst enjoying the night view of the wide ocean. Besides the culinary adventure, visitors can also hire boats and visit floating fisheries where the different types of crabs and fishes are reared commercially in cages. Craftwork souvenirs and snacks such as fish crackers (keropok), dried shrimp paste (belacan) and preserved shrimp (cencaluk) are also sold there.
Location : Kukup is located in the south-western fringes of Pontian town, roughly 20 kilometres away. If driving via the North-South Highway, take the Skudai exit and head towards Pontian Kechil. Upon arrival in Pontian Kechil, take the road going to Kukup.

3.Pineapple Museum

The State of Johor is one of the main producers of pineapple in Malaysia. With that in mind, a museum is created to create awareness and educate visitors regarding the pineapple industry in Johor.
Within the museum, there are sections dedicated to the different techniques in planting, processing, controlling and maintenance of the pineapple plantation. Other sections highlight the historical development of the pineapple industry in Malaysia. Another section of the museum exhibits collections of artifacts, publications and patent informations.
What is even more interesting are the sections highlighting the various types of pineapples planted in Malaysia.
Location: The Pineapple Museum is located at the 52nd Kilometre on the main Johor Bahru-Pontian-Kukup road, which is roughly 45 minutes away from Johor Bahru.

4.Tanjung Piai National Park

Tanjung Piai is the most southern tip of the Asian continent. It is well known as a haven with rare and unique flora and fauna. It is a revered site for bird watchers especially during the bird migration season during the months of September to March.
The Tanjung Piai - Johor National Park encompasses an area of 926 hectares. To access Tanjung Piai, visitors have 2 means of entry; through the Belukang River or alternatively through Desa Sri Piai.

Location : Unfortunately, there are no buses plying the route to Tanjung Piai. However, visitors can hire a taxi at the Pontian Bus Station, with a fare of roughly RM15. For convenience, it is suggested that visitors may want to charter the taxi to and fro Tanjung Piai and Pontian. Call mdnor 0127127473 Changi airport and Senai airport transfer.
If driving via the North-South Highway, take the Simpang Renggam exit. Use the main route towards Pontian and proceed to Kukup. Upon arrival in Kukup, follow the signages towards Tanjung Piai.

5.Orchid Valley

Orchid Valley is located at the foothills of Gunung Pulai, roughly 30 kilometres from Johor Bahru. With an area of 40 hectares, Orchid Valley is declared the largest tropical orchid plantation in the world. Here, there are more than 80 types of orchids, each uniquely beautiful and breath-taking.
Since opening in February 1996, Orchid Valley has gained in popularity amongst orchid-loving tourists especially orchid enthusiasts from Singapore. What is even more fascinating is the fact that tourists or visitors can choose and buy their chosen orchids at a reasonable price, besides enjoying the refreshing air and scenic orchid plantation view.
The Orchid Valley does not only contain orchids plantations, but also an education corridor, tourist centres and research laboratories. Other facilities include restaurants, children playgrounds and areas to view the scenic plantation.

If from Johor Bahru, take the main road to Pontian. Take the turning to Gunung Pulai, and the Orchid Valley will be roughly 9 miles from the main road.
