JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 31-- The Malaysian public, by and large, are getting impatient with Malaysian football, the lack of success, that is.And Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is among the lot as he embarks on a mission to save Malaysian football from falling further into the doldrums.Ismail Sabri who is in the process of talking to some ex-internationals for their views and input on how to revive the fortunes of Malaysian football, promised that their (ex-internationals) opinion will form part of his Ministry's recommendation to put Malaysian football on the right path again."I believe all of us, football loving Malaysians are getting a bit impatient with the state of Malaysian football. I can understand their sentiments," he said on the sidelines of the launch of the Johor Baru Rakan Muda Cybercentre at the Youth and Sports Complex here, Saturday.
He has scheduled a meeting with football officials and some ex-internationals at his office on Feb 4 and that's when he will outline his Ministry's plans on how to rescue Malaysian football.In the wake of yet another Malaysian football failure, the latest being the 0-5 drubbing at the hands of the United Arab Emirates in the Asian Cup qualifying recently, there has been calls for the guardian of Malaysian football, the FA of Malaysia, to put right all the wrongs afflicting Malaysian football.In turn the Sports Ministry has been asked to help out too."People tell me so many things are wrong with Malaysian football. Some say it's financial; others say it's the coaching and there are those who point their finger at grassroot development."For me I have to look at things in totality. There are so many factors which we need to address. Maybe come Feb 4 I will be able to provide some solutions," he added.
