Johor!!! Johor!!! Johor!!!
TANGKAK, A RM300 million furniture city complex will be built near the proposed site for the new administrative centre for Ledang district in Jalan Muar-Bukit Kangkar, here, soon.Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the creation of the furniture city was to support development efforts in the new administrative centre.
The 220,000 sq metre-complex is to promote Johor as a major furniture producer in the country.
"Although the complex is called furniture city, 15 per cent of its size will be allocated for the textile business, in line with Tangkak being known as textile town."The state government plans to turn the area around the new district administrative centre into a commercial area," Ghani told reporters after visiting storm victims from the affected villages in Serom, here, today.
He said the building of the new administrative centre would also be accompanied by projects to build 'honeycomb' homes where each house would share a compound. In the storm two days ago, 50 houses in Kampung Serom Lima, Serom Enam, Serom Lapan, Parit Pulai and Kampung Melayu Raya were damaged, while electric cables snapped and telephone lines got disconnected.
Ghani, who is Umno Ledang division chief, said assistance would be given to the affected villagers.
