New Ferry Services from Johor to Singapore

Johor!!! Johor!!! Johor!!!

KOTA TINGGI, New routes for the ferry services between Johor Tenggara and Singapore which officially began Saturday would help boost tourism activities in Johor, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.He said the new routes which were approved on March, helped link the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore with the Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal and Public Marina Complex in Pengerang and the Stulang Laut Ferry Terminal in Johor Baharu.

Ong said the new routes would also complement the existing ferry services between Changi in Singapore and Tanjung Belungkur, Johor."The opening of the new routes will definitely boost the economic activities in Johor Tenggara and its nearby areas especially in the tourism field," he told reporters after the launch of the Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal and Public Marina Complex, here.

The construction of the complex started in Jan 2008 and was fully completed early last year involving a cost of RM39 million. With an integrated system involving the Marine, Immigration, Customs and Health Departments as well as a 20-berth marina with landing ramp which can accommodate various size of yachts and recreational boats, the complex is expected to become a major attraction for yachting activities and marine tourism.
