Johor!!! Johor!!! Johor!!!
JOHOR BAHRU, -- Exposure is what local independent or 'indie' bands need to become successful in the show business and that means doing more stage performances, says local Rock icon Amy Search. He said constant stage performances would serve as good practice for bands as it would assist them to improve themselves.
"Apart from helping them to overcome stage fright, performing on stage would help to promote their band among music lovers. The more people see them and appreciate their music, the more better to increase their album sales," said the rocker with almost three decades of experience in stage performances.Amy said the impact of performing live on stage was greater than having their songs played by radio stations because 'indie' bands could interact with their fans up close and personal.
He was met by reporters after performing with 'indie' band 'Projek Pistol' at 'Konsert Radio Rosak', a charity fund raising concert for Gaza at Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium last night. The concert saw performances from favourite local rock bands such as Bunkface, Estranged, Radhi OAG, Triangle Music Centre, Secret Silence and Plague of Happiness.

JPA3 To Help Enhance Unity
Johor!!! Johor!!! Johor!!!
KLUANG, The functions of the Civil Defence Department (JPA3) will be upgraded from that of a support service in disaster rescue operations, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.Set up during the emergency, he said JPA3 could help realise the 1Malaysia concept and ease the burden of the police in maintaining public order.
He said as the country faced a new socio-political landscape, racial unity could still be threatened.
"So we need to see the challenge in a bigger context in order to enhance unity. This is not a rhetoric or merely empty talks and JPA3 could help enhance unity," he told reporters after launching a marriage enhancement programme organised by the Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) near Paloh here Saturday.Hishammuddin, who is also Member of Parliament for Sembrong, said the upgrading of the image would not burden JPA3 and efforts must be made to attract the younger generation to join the department.
On attempts to revive the Al-Arqam deviationist teaching through the internet, he said the ministry would not compromise on the matter in the interest of national security.
"However, we have to investigate the matter first and not rely entirely on what had been posted on the internet," he said when commenting on a newspaper report on news clips of former Al-Arqam leader Ashaari Muhammad in the Youtube. On fights between convicts and warders at the Sungai Buloh Prison on Wednesday, Hishammuddin said he was still waiting for a report on the investigation into the case.
